BB Bread shocked “giants” Gor Mahia with a 1–0 defeat at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, March 8, 2026, to qualify for the Round of 16 of the MozzartBet Cup.
On February 10, the team had eliminated AFC Leopards via a penalty shootout, progressing to the Round of 32 from the Round of 64.
Denis Cheni, who also scored against AFC Leopards, was once again the hero as he found the net against Gor Mahia to knock them out of the MozzartBet Cup.
“We knew we would face a big team, and the coach has really boosted our confidence because the tactics are his. After eliminating Gor and AFC, we now believe we can reach the final,” said Cheni.
The team is coached by Azastine Okoba.
BB Bread, which competes in the FKF Nairobi West League, is now among the lower-division sides still remaining in the competition.
This means Gor Mahia has been eliminated from the MozzartBet Cup, and their only route to CAF competitions now is by winning the Kenyan Premier League title.
Aside from Gor’s setback, other top-flight teams continued to dominate opponents from lower leagues.
Defending champions Nairobi United kept their title defense alive with an emphatic 8–0 win over BMC All Stars at Ulinzi Sports Complex.
Forwards Benson Omala, Ashraf Thaire, and Benard Magare each scored twice, while Duncan Omala and Shami Kibwana added one goal each.
Humphrey Aroko scored four goals to help Kariobangi Sharks thrash KU Hardnuts 4–0 at Kasarani.
2023 champions Kakamega Homeboyz defeated Kipchimchim FC 3–0, with Oliver Majak scoring twice and Eston Omengo adding another at Bukhungu Stadium.
Dinken Mwema scored a brace as Posta Rangers beat Oinopsos 2–0 at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru County.
Chebaiywa Lions also won 2–0 against Gucha Youth at DMI St Joseph’s Science School grounds in Eldoret.
Murang’a Seal edged Dynamo FC 1–0 at SportPesa Arena, thanks to a first-half goal by Victor Haki.
