Calls for political change dominated a meeting in Navakholo Sub-county as residents heaped
praise on community leader and aspiring parliamentary candidate Stanley Ochango, citing his
grassroots empowerment initiatives and support for vulnerable families.
Ochango, who has recently been associated with community outreach activities through the
Stanley Ochango Foundation, has gained popularity in parts of Navakholo for distributing
maize seedlings to farmers and assisting widows and orphans.
Speaking during the gathering, Lilian, a supporter of Team Stanley Ochango, commended the
aspirant for empowering widows and needy families through the distribution of seedlings
instead of cash handouts.
She noted that Ochango had also paid school fees for orphans, describing him as a leader
already transforming lives even before securing an elective seat.
Lilian urged residents to register as voters and support Ochango in the upcoming elections,
expressing confidence that he would deliver meaningful development if elected as Navakholo
MP.
Another resident, Gibson Sifuna Wawire, said the constituency had lagged behind in
development despite supporting the current leadership for many years.
According to him, Navakholo has continued to suffer from poor road networks, unreliable
water supply and lack of electricity, leaving residents frustrated and in need of new
leadership.
He said residents from Bunyala West had agreed that Ochango represented hope for change
and development in the area.
Jessica Nekesa, a widow, emotionally narrated how Ochango’s support had positively
impacted her family after receiving maize seedlings which she planted successfully.
She claimed previous efforts to seek assistance from the current leadership had yielded no
results, but noted that Ochango’s intervention had restored hope to her household.
