Moses Oundo Makeni, popularly known as Fulungenge, was born in 1976 in Busia District (present-day Busia County), in Akwobwait village, Teso South.
He began his educational journey at Akwobwait Primary School and later joined St. Mary’s Mundika High School for his O-Level education. After completing his secondary studies, he joined the National Youth Service (NYS), where he gained valuable life skills before venturing into the media industry.
Fulungenge’s media career started in Uganda at Rock Mambo, where he developed his broadcasting talent. He later moved to Kenya and joined Pulse FM in Mombasa. After facing various challenges in his career, he transitioned into acting and became part of the popular TV show Penzi Hatari, which aired on KBC.
In 2007, he joined West FM, where he rose to prominence creating his unique local humor that resonated deeply with the community. His engaging style made him a household name and a favorite among listeners.
However, his career was interrupted when he fell seriously ill, forcing him to step away from the media industry for about three years. During this period, rumors circulated that he had passed away, but these were false. In an interview, Fulungenge clarified that he was alive and undergoing treatment, attributing the rumors to individuals who did not wish him well.
He made a comeback in 2013 by joining Nyota FM, where he worked briefly. Later, in 2019, he joined Sasa Radio, where he currently hosts a drive show alongside Japheth Otieno. The duo has built a strong connection with their audience through their chemistry on air.
Fulungenge is also widely associated with Mahrumbini music from South Africa, a genre he helped popularize in Western Kenya, earning him recognition as one of the key figures behind its growing fan base in the region.
